Slice

We Know How To Cut™

At slice™, we know how to cut - and you will, too, when you have our patented ceramic tools in your home and office.

Zirconium Oxide

We make all our slice™ products with a high-tech ceramic called zirconium oxide. Next to diamonds, it's the most durable substance on Earth. (You may find it just as valuable as diamonds as you slice through projects with ease and keep your fingers safe and sound.)

How hard is ceramic?

The scientific MOHS scale rates the hardness of various substances. German mineralogist Friedrich Mohs came up with the scale in 1812. He rated 10 minerals available at the time from 1 to 10. Scientists have been using Fred's scale ever since, adding more substances as they're discovered. Diamonds are still at the top as number 10. slice™ ceramics are pretty close to diamonds - around 8.2.

How hard is metal?

Where does metal show up? Way down the scale, sad to say. The steel blade of your average knife is a mere 5.5. Pretty flimsy, we think. Ceramic is better than metal. Compared to any metal (even high-carbon steel), ceramic is sharper, harder, and stays that way longer. That's why you'll find ceramics used in satellites, race cars, and even operating rooms. Many surgeons, for example, prefer ceramic, not metal, for bone-replacement operations.

All in all, slice™ ceramic is a whole lot better than your average metal blade - for a lot of reasons: slice™ ceramic:

Slice

  • Extremely hard
  • Ultra-sharp
  • Won't rust
  • Lasts many times longer than steel
  • Remains sharp for years
  • Ultra-light
  • Non-stick
  • Well balanced
  • Non-sparking ceramic blade

  • Ergonomic design
  • Won't brown food
  • Won't stain
  • Won't dull
  • Resists wear and tear
  • Easy to clean
  • Easy to use
  • Reduces fatigue
  • Non-conductive ceramic blade

Metal Blades:

Slice

  • Rust
  • Bend
  • Dull
  • Wear out quickly
  • Hazardous to use

  • Stain
  • Pit
  • Scratch
  • Susceptible to chemical corrosion

Here's how we make slice™ super-sharp ceramic tools:

First, we mold ceramic powder into blades with special high-pressure presses and heat them for several days at extremely high temperatures (more than 2100 degrees Kelvin!). Finally, we polish the blades using a diamond wheel. The result? An edge that's infinitely better than any steel blade you can find on the market today.
